Some interesting new trends has been highlighted by Mark Penn in his book: "Microtrends". In the chapter "Tech Fatales", Penn contradicts the common people assumption that men are more likely to buy gadgets than women. Women influenced $90bn of technology purchases in 2006 alone. Girls are also more likely than boys to use cell phones, digital cameras, satellite radios and DVD recorders.
But there is a gap in the tech fatales market. Technology manufacturers and retailers keep their old conservative thought about woman and technology.
